In just a few years, our community has flourished, amassing over 5,500 followers on Instagram and more than 11,000 on Facebook—surpassing the town's population. Who we are
Hello, I'm Liz, the person behind Living Locust.
I grew up in eastern North Carolina, moving frequently and never having the stability of a true hometown. That experience shaped my desire to create a rooted life for my own family. In 2013, I moved to Locust and quickly found the sense of community I had always longed for.
As Locust grew, I found myself constantly searching for information about local events and businesses. Seeing the need for a central place to connect our community, I launched “What’s Up, Locust” on Instagram in 2019, which later became Living Locust.
What began as a passion project quickly grew into something much bigger. Today, Living Locust reaches over 17,000 local followers across platforms and has become a trusted source for discovering businesses, events, and opportunities in our area.
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of working closely with small business owners and witnessing firsthand the dedication it takes to build something meaningful. In addition to Living Locust, I’ve successfully managed social media for multiple local businesses across different industries, helping them grow their presence and connect with their customers.
I’m 35 years old, married to my best friend, and a proud mom to three daughters. I’m also a registered nurse by background, but my passion for community and marketing led me to fully pursue this work. Living Locust has evolved into both a platform and a service dedicated to supporting local businesses while keeping our community informed and connected.
My mission is simple: to help small businesses grow and to strengthen the sense of community that makes Locust so special.

The premium membership includes everything in the standard membership, plus 1-2 posts per month directly on the Living Locust Instagram and Facebook pages. We will use content from your accounts to create personalized posts for the Living Locust social media platforms, allowing your business to be highlighted directly on our page as well as our stories.
